“The Greatest Love of All”
(A Love Story)
There
are three kinds of love in Greek; eros, philos, and agape. First, eros
is selfish and it is common in couples who are passionately in love with each
other. Second, philos is love for
everyone, those friends and families. Lastly, agape love, it is the greatest love of all, the love of God for the
world, which refers for all human kind.
It is a
nice feeling to be in love with somebody and we’ll feel inspired and motivated
at some point but it is not a perfect love. That’s why I’d rather choose to
write about agape love for this love story because it would be common if I will
share something about eros love that is full of mystery, quarrels, heartaches, pains,
etc. And of course, I will share God’s love for I am a Christian, a Missionary
Baptist, and am proud and not ashamed of the Gospel to be shared.
Life is not about us. According to the
book I have read, “The purpose of our life is far greater than our own personal
fulfillment, our peace of mind, or even our happiness. It’s far greater than
our family, our career, or even our wildest dreams and ambitions. If we want to
know why we were placed on this planet, we must begin with God. We were born by
his purpose and for his purpose.” (The
Purpose Driven Life, Rick Warren)
In
the Old Testament of the Holy Bible, it is written in Genesis 1:1, “In the
beginning God created the heaven and the earth”. He created day and night, moon
and the stars, sun, first animals, and the first trees and plants. In Genesis
2:7, “Then
the LORD God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the
breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.” He is Adam, the first man and then
eventually, God created Eve that is taken out from a man because He took a rib
from him. God’s relationship with them is intact and pure for there was no sin.
In Genesis 1:16-17, And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to
eat from any tree of the garden, but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge
of good and evil, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.”
There
was a serpent that is most cunning than any wild animals that the Lord had
made. It tempted them and attests their obedience towards God. Then Adam and
Eve failed God to do the commandment, they ate the forbidden fruit. At that
time sin entered into the world for they committed disobedience, the first sin
in the world. In Romans 5:12, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the
world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have
sinned.” Nevertheless death reigned for the offense of one many will be dead.
Good
news! In John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten
son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting
life.” He was not sent to condemn us but through him we might be saved and
redeemed. For He loves us so much that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ,
pure, sinless, and perfect. They spit on his face, he was buffeted, others
smote him with the palms of their hands, they stripped him, mocked him, and
lastly, he was crucified. But it is the only one way for our redemption, his
precious blood. He sacrificed and died for us, sinners! Then it is the greatest
love of all.
